Vaccinations, early socialisation, handling skills and getting life off to a good start……….
What to expect at this stage…
This is one of the most important stages in your puppy’s development.
Your puppy is adjusting to their new home, building confidence, and completing their initial vaccination course so they can safely explore the world and build up immunity to dangerous diseases.
Vaccinations
Your puppy requires a course of 3 vaccinations: 8, 10 and 12 weeks, then yearly to maintain their immunity and protection from deadly virus’s.
They will be vaccinated against:
Distemper
Hepatitis
Parainfluenza
Parvo
Leptospirosis
Parasite protection
During your consultations with the vet your individual puppies needs will be discussed and a tailor made “ Bug Plan” for the year will be created. This takes into consideration, future lifestyle, travel, diet and environmental factors. Therefore a parasite prevention plan is created especially for you and your puppy.
Training
Your puppy will be able to start walking outside 1 week after the 2nd vaccine, but will not be fully vaccinated until 1 week after the 3rd vaccine
How much exercise ????
“The rule of thumb is 5 mins of exercise every month your pup is born”
For example your pup is 3 months old, which means you can do 15 mins of exercise 2-3 times a day
The reason for this is to allow steady bone development and to reduce the risks of developmental bone disorders like hip dysplasia.
Remember a puppy should sleep 18-20 hours a day……
